One thing I always try to do while traveling is book a photo shoot because it forces me to be creative, do research on new locations, and push myself creatively! Obviously it’s not too too hard when the location and couple are this good, but it challenges me. When I am home I tend to photograph in the same places, so this allows my brain to think differently.

Ok let’s talk candids! This is probably one of my favorite candid photos I’ve taken and it was when the shoot was finishing up. I was taking photos of mom and dad to finish up the shoot and the kids were just exploring the area we were in. In the moment they didn’t even know the camera were on them, they were just being kids. (And that right there is the secret to the best candid shots!) They cannot be forced, they happen in the way you interact between the photos!

You should aim to take your senior pictures in the three months leading up to your graduation month. This way, you’ll have your full gallery ready in plenty of time to order invites and prints before your big day. My biggest piece of advice is to avoid booking your senior portraits in the same month you’re graduating. It can be really risky because editing photos takes time, and if you wait until graduation month, there’s no guarantee your full gallery will be ready in time.
