A Private Surprise Proposal in New Orleans Audubon Park

When most people think about planning a surprise proposal, they picture somewhere beautiful... until they remember everyone else will probably have the same idea.
One of the biggest concerns I hear from couples planning a proposal in New Orleans is wanting a location that feels romantic without feeling like they are performing in front of a crowd. Luckily, that's exactly what we found at Audubon Park.
Before the proposal, he and I met up to scout locations together. We walked through the park looking for a spot that had all the beauty Audubon Park is known for but still felt tucked away enough that they could have a private moment together.
And then we found it!
Tucked beneath one of the park's incredible low-hanging oak trees was the sweetest little nook. Surrounded by greenery and filtered light, it felt like its own little world. Even though we were in one of New Orleans' most popular parks, it was quiet, intimate, and hidden just enough to keep the surprise completely intact.
When they walked up, she had absoultely no idea what was about to happen.
The moment he got down on one knee, it was just the two of them under the oak trees celebrating one of the biggest moments of their lives. Those are always my favorite proposals to photograph. The ones that feel genuine, emotional, and completely focused on each other.
After she said yes (of course!), we spent some time wandering around Audubon Park for engagement photos. The excitement was still fresh, and they got to soak in every second of being newly engaged while we explored some of the park's beautiful pathways and gorgeous oaks.
If you are planning a surprise proposal in New Orleans, don't assume you have to choose between a gorgeous location and a private moment. With a little planning and location scouting beforehand, Audubon Park has so many hidden corners that make the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable proposal.
Thinking about popping the question? I'd love to help you plan the surprise, scout the perfect location, and capture every moment so you can relive it for years to come.
