Did you watch Twilight growing up and think, "Oh my gosh, I need to elope there, that is totally my vibe!"? If you said no, that is absolutely okay because I was on the same page—until I went! And let me tell you, the Oregon Coast is a sight to be seen; it is absolutely gorgeous! If you don’t want to elope there, that’s okay, but I am going to show and tell you about the best places to elope. Hopefully, it will change your mind!Â
The Oregon Coast offers plenty of different backdrops to choose from. You could elope in the forest, on the beach, or on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I have created a list of what I think are some of the most beautiful places for you to elope on the Oregon Coast!
Oregon Coast Elopement Locations
Location plays a huge part in where you elope! Do you want a beachside elopement, want to run around in the forest, hike for a beautiful view, or elope on a cliff overlooking the water? Lucky for you, I have examples of each one of these that are all right on the Oregon Coast!Â
Cape KiwandaÂ
Cape Kiwanda is an absolutely gorgeous spot for an elopement! It offers a variety of stunning backdrops all in one place. Plus, it's just a short walk on the beach. The best part? No permit is needed for small elopements with fewer than 50 people since it's a public beach.
Cape Kiwanda isn't just about the beach; there is also a cliff that's just a steep sand dune away. The scenery is diverse and perfect for unforgettable photos.
Sunset is the best time to elope here. The golden light of the setting sun perfectly complements the natural oranges of the area, making everything look magical. After saying "I do," you and your guests can celebrate with a drink or a cozy dinner at Pelican Brewing, just a short walk from your elopement spot.
If you're dreaming of a magical, scenic elopement, Cape Kiwanda has everything you need for an unforgettable experience. Let's make it happen!
God's Thumb
God’s Thumb is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you are an adventurous couple who is up for a bit of a rough hike, this is perfect for you! This moderate hike is around 3.9 miles round trip and is totally worth the effort—I struggled to get there myself, but it was absolutely worth it! Don’t worry if we need to take a couple of water and snack breaks; there are plenty of gorgeous spots to shoot along the way up. This location offers stunning scenery of the land and overlooks the ocean.
If you're wondering what time we should shoot at God’s Thumb, I would say early in the morning would be ideal! Although I went midday and it was still beautiful, early morning would cast a soft light across the area. To ensure we get there in time for soft light, we should start the hike around sunrise to make sure we capture the beautiful lighting.
If this sounds like the perfect place to elope with the love of your life, let's lace up those hiking shoes and create unforgettable photos together!
Hug Point
Hug Point Beach is another dreamy location for your elopement! This beach is absolutely stunning, with plenty of room to run around like a kid, explore beautiful cliff walls, and discover cute, intimate caves.
Imagine exchanging vows with the sound of waves crashing in the background and the soft sand beneath your feet. The natural beauty of Hug Point Beach, with its dramatic cliffs and hidden coves, creates a magical and romantic atmosphere.
Whether you’re looking for breathtaking photo opportunities or a peaceful, secluded spot to celebrate your love, Hug Point Beach has it all. It’s the perfect blend of adventure and romance, making your elopement truly unforgettable.
Â
Cannon Beach
When I first thought of the Oregon Coast, Cannon Beach immediately came to mind! This beach is absolutely beautiful and one of the most iconic spots in the area. It’s a simpler location compared to some others in this guide, but it offers stunning sandy shores and majestic rock formations.
While Cannon Beach is pretty popular and can be a bit busier, the scenery is still breathtaking and perfect for a memorable elopement. Imagine saying your vows with the iconic Haystack Rock in the background and the ocean waves adding a soothing soundtrack to your special moment.
Despite its popularity, Cannon Beach provides a romantic and picturesque setting that’s hard to beat.
Cape Lookout
Cape Lookout is the ultimate spot for a Twilight-inspired elopement, making you feel like you've stepped right into the movies. If you're a die-hard Twilight fan, this location is perfect for you! The best time to elope here is about four hours before sunset, allowing the beautiful light to filter through the stunning trees surrounding us.
This spot offers a very intimate setting, making you feel like you're in your own world within the enchanting forest. However, if you're planning a slightly larger elopement with 10 or more people, this might not be the best choice due to its cozy, secluded nature.
Cape Lookout provides a magical, private atmosphere that's perfect for an unforgettable, intimate elopement. Let's create those movie-like moments together!
